The Newly sworn in Vice Chancellor of the University of calabar, Prof Florence Banku Obi has announced the appointment of Prof Angela Oyo Ita and Prof Michael Okom as the two new Deputy Vice Chancellors of the University of Calabar following their endorsement by the Senate of the University. 

Prof. Angela Oyo Ita from the faculty of medicine is now Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic she was also a one-time Commissioner of Health in Cross River State

Prof Michael Okom now Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration is a Governing Council member and Dean of the Faculty of Law prior to his recent appointment.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof Florence Obi in a special meeting of Senate has announced the latest academic promotions to the status of Professors and Associate Professors in the institution.

Those who were promoted to full Professor status according to the Vice Chancellor include Dr Etim Okon of the Department of History/International Studies, Dr Essien Oku of the Department of Biochemistry and Dr Idaka Idaka of the Department of Educational Foundations. While the list of Associate Professors includes Dr Genevive Aglazor of Curriculum and Teaching, Dr Robert Nwanguma of Architecture and Dr Stanislaus Iyorza of the Department of Mass Communication and Digital Media Studies.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof Florence Obi has pledged to reposition the Institution for greater effectiveness and efficient service delivery.
In her maiden message at Senate, Prof Florence Obi solicited the total support of Senate in achieving her mission adding that she will work towards sustaining a robust senate where ideas generated will be the guiding principle for decisions.

She admitted that the challenges before her administration were enormous and promised to acquaint Members of Senate with a brief on the “state of the Institution” at the next meeting of Senate proposed for the month of January, 2021.

The Vice Chancellor Lauded Senate members for their support during her investiture and promise to work with them to lift up the academic status of the institution.
